What an amazing spell of warm weather we’re having. Every beach I pass is packed and there are more people in the Irish Sea than I have ever seen. People are happy and the summer wardrobe is finally getting worn! Temps have been up for so long that there’s even been a reported ice-cream shortage.
It’s no fun being stuck indoors when the weather is nice, so I made the most of it by having picnic lunches when I could during the week. Never underestimate the benefits of getting out for some fresh air when you can.
Friday eve was BBQ TIME!!!!! :-)
To make up for being in the office all week I spent all of Saturday in the sunshine.
The day started with a run then Dar and I decided to head out together. I’ve been meaning to do the Bray to Greystones cliff walk for ages and Saturday was the perfect day.
The path hugs the coast from one small town to the next and takes in beautiful countryside, sheer cliffs, trees and fields, finally approaching Greystones from the top of a hill giving the most wonderful view.
When we arrived in Greystones we made a beeline for The Happy Pear, a funky natural food market and vegetarian café, one of my favourite places to shop for fresh produce or grab a bite and a smoothie. I had a salad plate with home-made bread (so fresh).
Dar had a sweet potato cake with side salads and an organic cherry coke (which he liked so much he got a second).
On Sunday I got organised for my upcoming holiday with Mum!
On Saturday we’re off to celebrate her birthday in the Mediterranean sunshine, it’s become somewhat of a ritual as this will be our 4th year in a row! One of the “joys” of apartment living is the lack of storage space, so I rent a small space in a local storage facility. On Sunday I finally got around to switching my wardrobe properly… a task much easier to approach with a sun holiday looming!
Storage was really stuffy so I stopped off in Cabinteely Park for a walk and a catchup on my audiobook (Stephen King’s 11.22.63) on the way home.
I’m glad I did, as I discovered they’ve started a Sunday food market…
and Cabinteely House are doing guided tours during July/August, must book, I’ve always wanted to see inside!
Oooh, I also got some workout gear from Reebok online this week. They do free delivery to Ireland and there’s some great value in their sale. I got running shorts, capris and a pink top, exciting!
Have a great week!
Q. Do you listen to audiobooks when exercising? Any recommendations? (The Help was my first and I loved it).
Q. Are you a picnic fan? Where is your favourite spot?
